Polyethylene glycol is also known as Polyethylene Oxide (PEO) or Polyoxyethylene (POE). Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a hydrophilic polymer of ethylene oxide with biocompatible and versatile.
If the molecule weight is smaller than 20000g/mol, it’s PEG. Conversely, it calls PEO if the molecule weight bigger than 20000g/mol.
PEG series are liquids or solids based on the molecule weight. These two categories of properties can be applied on different industries such as the ointment base and film coated tablet for pharmaceutical products, excipient for vaccine, toothpaste and skincare cream products for living. Except the applications above, the textile and industrial manufacturer also need PEGs.
PEG series have strong hydrophilicity, which can be solvent completely with water and organic solution such as Acetone, Ethanol, Toluene, Chloroform and Dichloromethane.
